COMMUNITY SERVICE to Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Cacat Negeri Perak 12th September 2009

‘The community service trip to Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Cacat Negeri Perak” was organised by Rotaract Club of University Teknologi Petronas on 12th September 2009 at JKR 511, Lorong Aman, 31000 Batu Gajah, Perak. A total of 15 students ranging from 1st year students to second year students participated in this trip.

The main objective of this trip was to create awareness of their responsibilities towards our community among the students. Other than that, it was also to outline the motor of RACUTP, which is ‘Fellowship through Service”

On that day, we gathered at v2 cafe around 1.30 pm and we began our trip at 1.50 pm. When we reached there, Rtr. Jerry Foo and Rtr. Koh Liang Yi briefed the students on what we should do and what we should not do. After that, we were instructed and divided into smaller groups.

We cleaned the environment, mopped the floor and tidied up the room there.

Miss Kivish, who is the person in charge there, told us about some of the background of this charitable organisation. It was founded in 1968 by some parents who had these special children and is consistently funded by kind person mostly from Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh. Presently, there are about 40 plus mentally and physically handicapped living there. The youngest inmate is 9 years old and the eldest is 57 years old. This organisation indeed provides them with a better environment and hospitality. Besides that, we are also invited to join their Fun Fair on 19th September 2009 at the rumah there.

The event ended at around 4pm with sharing session. Rtr Koh Liang Yi, who is the supervisor of this trip, reminded all the participants that consistent cares and visits should be monitored and carried forward to this rumah.

The event was indeed a success. All the participants participated this trip actively. The participants definitely gained better insights and understand that lots of effort and care should be contributed to needy in our society.
